A week following Jos Verstappen’s remarks that brought attention to the internal situation at Red Bull after the investigation into Christian Horner, which resulted in the dismissal of allegations against the team principal, speculation surrounding the F1 world champion’s future with the team intensified during the Saudi Arabian GP.

The uncertainty grew when Helmut Marko, the experienced motorsport advisor, hinted to the media that he might either face suspension from the company or choose to leave on his own terms. Christian too faced pressure to step down.

However, Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff publicly expressed his support for Christian Horner, the team principal of their Formula 1 team. The controversy surrounding Horner has dominated the F1 community’s attention for the past two weeks, overshadowing the Bahrain Grand Prix and causing unrest within the Red Bull team.

Verstappen also came in to support the 80yr old Helmut Marko. Max stated: “Helmut and I, we have a lot of respect for each other.”

He further added: “My loyalty in general to Red Bull, but also to him, after all for what he has done for me goes very far.”

Shortly after the internal investigation concluded and Christian Horner retained his position, the female complainant was suspended. This decision further highlighted the differing opinions between Jos Verstappen and the Red Bull management. In an interview with “The Daily Mail,” Jos Verstappen criticized Christian Horner, stating, “There is tension here while he remains in position. The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can’t continue like this. It will explode. He is playing the victim when he is the one causing the problems.”

Verstappen, on the other hand, has remained ambiguous on the matter. However, in an interview with Sky Sports, he emphasized the importance of team unity and focusing on performance, saying, “I think everyone knows that it’s important to have peace in the team and just focus on the driving aspect and the performance aspect. So that’s what we try to do as a team.”
