F1 will be making a return to Shanghai after a two-year absence, with the introduction of ground effect cars adding an extra layer of intrigue to the event.
The Shanghai(Chinese Grand Prix) circuit’s bumpy nature, due to its location on swampland, has prompted repairs to be carried out in order to ensure a smoother racing surface.
Collaborating with Herman Tilke’s company, the track underwent necessary maintenance following an inspection by the FIA at the end of last year.
Despite efforts to address the bumps, teams are still facing uncertainty due to the lack of data on the track surface characteristics.
Complicating matters further is the sprint race format, giving teams limited practice time before heading into qualifying for the short Saturday event.
Pirelli’s Simone Berra highlighted the challenges posed by the return to China, emphasizing the need to treat it as a new circuit given the changes in cars, tires, and track conditions over the years.
