Sebastian Vettel to test Porsche Hypercar.

Vettel is set to undertake a 36-hour long trial at Spain’s 5.345km Aragón circuit to provide a comprehensive assessment of the 670bhp closed cockpit endurance racer as part of Porsche’s readiness for the 2024 Le Mans 24hr race.

 

Sebastian Vettel is gearing up to test Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Hypercar in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

He will be taking the wheel of the 963 during a 36-hour test at MotorLand Aragon in Spain next week.

Having already tried out the car in the simulator, Vettel expressed his excitement about the upcoming test.

“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Porsche 963,” Vettel shared.

After a rollout in Weissach, Vettel’s interest in endurance events led him to this opportunity.

With the long run in Aragón approaching, Vettel is eager for the challenge and grateful for the support from the team.

This new experience will require some adjustment, but Vettel is ready to embrace it.

Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, has expressed his excitement regarding Sebastian Vettel’s interest in the Porsche 963. The company is pleased to support Vettel’s request by allocating sufficient time and resources for him to test the hybrid prototype. They firmly believe that Vettel’s valuable feedback will greatly contribute to their learning process.

To facilitate this endeavor, a 36-hour long run will be conducted at Motorland Aragón, in collaboration with Porsche Penske Motorsport and their works drivers. This setting is deemed ideal for the purpose.

In the meantime, Porsche Penske Motorsport is diligently preparing for the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans. Given Vettel’s impressive track record as a four-time Formula 1 champion, his expertise is highly sought after to provide additional assistance.

Upon being asked of further plans, Vettel replied, “We will then see what happens next in this respect – at the moment there are no further plans for the future.”
