Telnet is a command line tool designed for administering remote servers via the Command line. Unlike Windows XP or Vista, Windows 7 does not have the Telnet client installed automatically. You will need to enable it so that you can start using it. Below are the steps to enable telnet
1 Go to control panel
2 Click on Programs
3 Click on turn windows features on or off. If you are not login from administrative account you will be asked for administrator password
4 Select Telnet Client in the list and click ok. You may have to wait sometime about a minute for the client to be installed after selecting it.
Install Telnet through the command prompt: You can install Telnet with a quick command line. Go to start type cmd and press enter. At the command line type
and press Enter. After sometime, you will be returned to the command prompt.
Restart the command prompt and you will be able to begin using Telnet.
